The following is a sampling of Murray Prep services. All client sessions are one-on-one and confidential, due to the competitive nature of college admission and securing employment, as well as the client’s right to privacy to practice in a “safe lab” environment.
The Murray Prep High School Course
This basic course involves 4 sessions for ages 16+ focusing on mapping out one’s experiences in a way that will be relevant to colleges, interview strategy with digital video practice, and college application development. Students learn life skills they will use over and over in the future. (Students ages 13+ applying to private high schools or boarding schools are accepted on a case by case basis.)
The Murray Prep College Course
This course includes the basics of the high school course, but is 5 sessions due to more emphasis on effective resumes and cover letters for internships and employment. This course may also be customized to focus on the graduate school application process. Additional sessions are available on an hourly basis after the client completes either the HIGH SCHOOL or COLLEGE course.
This service offers hourly sessions customized to meet the specific needs of a client in the early or middle years of their career. This client is typically seeking employment, a promotion, a career change, or re-entering the work force after a considerable time lapse due to other pursuits (such as parenting). These clients often seek to update their interview skills with questions potential employers ask today, fine tune how to explain their achievements in a relevant way with brevity, and improve their resumes to be more current and effective. Many also seek to improve their speech presentation skills at corporate meetings and conferences. Contact Murray Prep for hourly rates and package discounts.
93% of any first impression is non-verbal, involving how one looks, what the candidate wears, eye contact, handshakes, their “E&E” level (Energy & Enthusiasm), gestures and other body language. Murray Prep provides this analysis for all ages with constructive suggestions and the reasons for them. The goal is to create a successful style appropriate to one’s career and age group by improving and updating the clients image, wardrobe & mannerisms.
Say you’re an athlete who wants to transition into television commentating or commercials…
Or you seek to become a news anchorperson, talk show host, reporter or sportscaster…
Or maybe you’d just like to be ready and confident when your company chooses you to be a webcast, in the webinar, the in-house news program, or even as a guest on CNBC…
Then contact Murray Prep for professional performance coaching. Janis Murray transitioned into communication training from a successful 30 year career on television as a news correspondent, anchor and talk show host in major markets and on CNN. She stays current with the latest trends in broadcasting and cable, and knows what TV producers seek in quality guests as well as what station/network managers look for when hiring on camera talent. She will prepare you well for any television career or single webcast opportunity.
NOTE: Ms. Murray also knows DEADLINES matter and she can meet yours. So in scheduling, priority is given to clients with tight deadlines, such as a sudden on camera appearance or audition the next day. This said, it is most useful for a client who suspects he or she will be expected to appear on camera “some day” to seek performance coaching further in advance… to enhance their corporate skill set, increase the likelihood of being asked to appear, and to gain confidence in this important, growing and diversifying area of communication.
Presentations to Groups and Conferences
